Dr Anthony Brennan

General and Interventional Cardiologist, Tweed Coast Cardiology

Anthony is a cardiologist with interests in interventional cardiology plus complex percutaneous intervention and preventative cardiology. Anthony grew up on the southern Darling Downs and did his undergraduate degree at the University of Queensland before moving to the University of Melbourne to study medicine. He spent most of his registrar years training in Melbourne at St Vincent's Hospital. Wanting to be closer to family, he moved back to Brisbane as the interventional cardiology fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2023. In 2024 he did 12 months abroad with his young family at the prestigious Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK as the senior interventional cardiology fellow, concentrating mostly on complex PCI and acute coronary syndrome patients along with structural heart procedures (mainly PFO/ASD).

After returning from the UK, he has now set up permanently on the southern Gold Coast. He has admitting rights at the rapidly growing Tweed Valley Hospital (public) as one of the staff consultant cardiologists / has a weekly coronary angiogram list. He is also affiliated with John Flynn Hospital (Private) and the Mater hospital South Brisbane (Public/Private) where he is also staff specialist cardiologist. Away from work you will find him on the beach with his wife and 2 boys, or cheering on from the sideline at junior soccer/AFL. 

Dr Naim Mridha

General and Interventional Cardiologist, Tweed Coast Cardiology

Dr Naim Mridha is an Interventional and General Cardiologist. His vision is to offer patients a compassionate, personalised and evidence-based approach to heart health. As a lifelong local on the Coast, he is passionate about the care he provides to the community that shaped him.

Dr Mridha undertook his general physician and cardiology training across several major tertiary hospitals including The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital. Following this, he completed a rigorous, comprehensive two-year interventional cardiology fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital - one of Australia's leading cardiac centres. Dr Mridha’s subspecialty expertise is in coronary angiography and intervention, with a particular focus on incorporating contemporary technologies such as intracoronary imaging (IVUS/OCT) and coronary physiology to enhance precision and optimise outcomes. His other interests include echocardiography, preventative cardiology, and the management of heart failure and valvular heart disease.

Dr Mridha is an active clinical researcher with a strong commitment to evidence-based cardiac care. He has multiple publications and regularly presents at national and international cardiology meetings. Dr Mridha holds various academic titles, including Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and actively supervises cardiology trainees, junior medical staff and students.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys cricket, a day at the beach and spending quality time with his family.

Payam Sanae

Business Manager / Practice Manager

Payam has over 20 years of experience within the medical field, with a strong focus on cardiology, healthcare development, and patient-centred care. His background spans private cardiac practice, hospital cardiology services, and the development of contemporary cardiac programs, including involvement in the establishment and growth of the cardiac catheterisation service at Tweed Valley Hospital.

He has postgraduate qualifications in healthcare development, critical care, and leadership, alongside a business degree, and has also contributed to nationally researched community health projects. Payam has worked across healthcare systems internationally, including Sweden, Norway, and Australia, bringing a broad perspective to healthcare operations and service improvement.

His approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, collaboration, and supporting high-quality care experiences for patients and the wider community.
